Pirates, FSN Broadcast Schedule Announced
The Pirates announced that FSN Pittsburgh will televise 125 regular season and two Spring Training games this season. I would expect that the team schedule on pirates.com will be updated soon to specifically show which games will be on TV, but in the meantime, here are the highlights:
FSN will begin its regular season coverage at 3:30 p.m. ET on April 6, 45 minutes before the Pirates officially open their season in St. Louis against the Cardinals. Only two of the four games in that opening series against the Cardinals, though, will be televised.
The Pirates’ home opener a week later on April 13 will also feature significant pre-game coverage beginning an hour before the 1:35 p.m. ET first pitch.
The bulk of the telecasts will be in May, June, July and August. As usual, the schedule is lighter for the first and last month of the season.
Fans wanting to watch Spring Training games on FSN can do so on March 16 at 7 p.m. ET (vs. Tampa Bay) and on March 21 at 1 p.m. ET (at Cincinnati — in Sarasota, Fla.). Sixteen total Grapefruit League games will air on WPGB 104.7 FM this spring, including the first game next Wednesday. The station will also carry all 162 games during the season.
