Day 46: Pirates @ Twins

You’ve got to feel bad for right-hander Evan Meek, who on top of having a stomach flu now has bronchitis. There’s no telling how long Meek is going to be sidelined with the illnesses, but this can’t help his chances of making the Opening Day bullpen. He was scheduled to pitch in a game on Monday after sitting out a week with a tired shoulder. Good news is — at least his shoulder is fine.

Andy LaRoche is still battling the same stomach bug that it circulating the clubhouse and didn’t make the trip to Fort Myers on Tuesday either. Craig Monroe is spending the day at Pirate City to get some extra at-bats in a Minor League game — a sign that he is already on the club? It’s looking that way. Ryan Doumit also went to Pirate City to get some additional defensive work.
