Andy LaRoche exits early with knee contusion

Pirates third baseman Andy LaRoche left Thursday’s game at the end of the sixth after suffering a right knee contusion. LaRoche was hit in that knee with a pitch by Mets starter Mike Pelfrey in the fourth inning. He is listed as day-to-day.

Eric Hinske replaced LaRoche at third at the start of the seventh. LaRoche went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and two runs scored before exiting.

How did Steven Jackson look in getting the win?

Jackson had strong outing, I like how Huntington works the waiver wire. Finds players that are adding depth to our poor minor league system. The real test will be this draft coming up.
