Pedro Alvarez promoted to Double-A Altoona
Third baseman Pedro Alvarez, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, has been promoted from Single-A Lynchburg to Altoona.
The Curve are off on Tuesday, meaning that Alvarez will make his debut for Altoona on Tuesday night.
In 66 games with Lynchburg, Alvarez hit .247 with 14 homers and 55 RBIs. The promotion comes just more than two months after Alvarez made his professional debut in the Pirates’ system with Lynchburg.
