Bucs ink RHP Victor Black
The Pirates continue to sign players from June’s First-Year Player Draft, with RHP Victor Black being the latest.
Black, who was chosen as the 49th overall pick in the first supplemental round, has been assigned to short season State College. Pittsburgh received the supplemental pick after not signing pitcher Tanner Scheppers in the second round of the ’08 Draft.
The 21-year-old Black went 6-4 in 15 starts for Dallas Baptist University this past season. He struck out 99 in 88 2/3 innings.
Black is the 12th player that the Pirates have signed from the Draft.
