Charlie Morton pushed back in rotation

Jenifer Langosch/MLB.com

Initially scheduled to make his next start on Tuesday, right-hander Charlie Morton now won’t start until sometime during the Pirates’ Sept. 11-13 weekend series in Houston. The extra few days of rest is not believed to be due to any sort of injury.

With six starters in the rotation, Zach Duke and Kevin Hart will each move up a day (Duke to now pitch Tuesday and Hart on Wednesday), but will still be on their normal four days rest.

Morton allowed six runs on nine hits and four walks in five innings in his most recent start.
