Morton to have Triple-A start skipped
Purely for precautionary reasons, the Pirates have skipped right-hander Charlie Morton this time through Triple-A Indianapolis’ rotation.
Morton has what general manager Neal Huntington described as “very, very minor” discomfort in his right elbow. The Pirates don’t believe that this is the sign of anything serious but wanted to give Morton a few extra days to rest.
There is the chance the right-hander could return to the mound early next week. Morton is 4-4 with a 4.14 ERA in 13 starts for Indianapolis.
