Meek ready for Grapefruit League action

Right-hander Evan Meek passed his last checkpoints on Friday and is now ready to begin pitching in Grapefruit League games. Meek threw living batting practice to hitters at Pirate City. He also went through some fielding drills. The right-hander has been working back from right calf tightness, which slowed him during the second week of camp.
The Pirates have Meek penciled in to pitch one inning in Monday’s home game against the Phillies. This will be Meek’s first appearance of the spring. He still has plenty of time to log enough innings to be ready for the start of the season.
