Tabata day-to-day with hamstring tightness

Manager Clint Hurdle said the Pirates will give Jose Tabata “a couple of days” to try and alleviate the right hamstring tightness that forced Tabata out of Saturday’s game.
Tabata sustained the injury, which he described afterward as a cramp, as he was running out a grounder in the first inning of the Pirates’ game against the Rockies. He did not take the field in the bottom of the first. Matt Diaz replaced Tabata in left field.
“When I touched the base, I felt it,” said Tabata, who came up limping on the play. “I feel it just a little bit.”
The Pirates do not expect this to be an injury that will require time on the disabled list. Rather, the club will play one man short until Tabata feels good enough to return.
