Some loose ends…
A few not-too-significant items to update you on…
- Catcher Eric Fryer has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis. Fryer was designated for assignment on Wednesday.
- Catcher Brian Jeroloman is back with the Blue Jays, who claimed him off waivers just days after Pittsburgh did the same to Toronto. In case you forgot, the Pirates just claimed Jeroloman on Friday and put him on the 40-man roster. However, the club needed to open a roster spot for SS Clint Barmes a few days later and decided to take Jeroloman off to make that room. Jeroloman went back on waivers and sure enough, the Blue Jays snatched him back up. Hope the guy didn’t invest in any black and gold gear during his weekend as a Pirate.
- Remember that midnight tonight is the deadline teams have to offer Type A or Type B free agents arbitration if the club wishes to be in line for a compensation Draft pick. For the Pirates, this deadline affects four players — Derrek Lee, Ryan Ludwick, Ryan Doumit and Chris Snyder.
