Compiling contract data

Just got my hands on some specific contract information for some of the Pirates’ early offseason signings. Here are the details (base salary, incentives, additional clauses, etc) on several players:

  • Rod Barajas
    • $4 million salary in 2012
    • $3.5 million club option for 2013; option becomes mutual if he is traded during 2012 season
    • Incentives: $250,000 for MVP ($150,000 for second, $100,000 for third); $50,000 for World Series MVP; $25,000 for League Championship Series MVP; $25,000 for Gold Glove; $75,000 for Silver Slugger; $50,000 for All-Star invitation
  • Clint Barmes
    • $5 million salary for 2012
    • $5.5 million salary for 2013
    • Incentives: $50,000 for All-Star invitation; $25,000 for Division Series MVP; $25,000 for Gold Glove; $25,000 for League Championship Series MVP; $75,000 for Silver Slugger; $50,000 for World Series MVP; $250,000 for MVP ($150,000 for second, $100,000 for third)
  • Brandon Boggs
    • Major League contract worth $480,000
    • If not on Major League roster, Boggs has the option to sign with an Asian team for $100,000 (before April 5) or for $150,000 (after April 5).
  • Jake Fox
    • Major League contract worth $520,000
    • If not on Major League roster, Fox has the option to sign with an Asian team for $50,000 (before April 5) orfor $100,000 (after April 5).
  • Erik Bedard
    • $4.5 million base salary in 2012
    • Additional $500,000 available in performance bonuses: $100,000 each for 150, 160, 170, 180 and 190 innings.
    • Incentives: $325,000 for Cy Young ($150,000 for second, $100,000 for third); $50,000 for World Series MVP; $25,000 for League Championship Series MVP; $25,000 for Division Series MVP; $25,000 for Gold Glove; $50,000 for All-Star invitation

These signings are disgusting…

if beddar is able to stay healthy all year there is no better lefthander than him and the bucs will be in contention all year as a yankees fan i think the yankees let one get away he would had being a great signing hope he does well for the pirates
