Spring Training hasn’t just ended for the Major League players. It’s over for the organization’s Minor Leaguers, too. Farm director John Vuch and his staff recently finalized assignments for all players beginning the year with one of the Cardinals’ affiliates. Those assignments were officially announced today.

He has an injured quad and will remain in Florida to rehab for another week or two before joining the Triple-A team. He will begin the year on the Memphis disabled list.

Only 3 OF at AAA?

Others on the roster (i.e. Eugenio Velez) also play the outfield, even if they’re not designated that way. Also, when Allen Craig returns off DL, it’s likely that Shane Robinson will be sent to Memphis.

Where is Boone Whiting?

Listed on Quad Cities’ web site.

Reserve list. Not sure what that means?

We have a Jesus Montero, maybe he’ll hit like the one in Seattle. And how do you make the top 20 prospects list as a catcher and then change to a reliever? Kind of funny that Casey Rasmus is still with the cardinals too…wonder if there is any negativity there.

I read somewhere that our Jesus Montero is actually Seattle’s Montero’s brother. Maybe there is a whole litter of them out there.

Freese left his bat in the World Series. Does he have a short leash with Cox or even Craig pushing him for 3b?

I hope the Cardinals give Cox and Craig a chance at 3B to fill in for David Freese because of needing someone to fill the void.
