April 15: Cubs (3-6) @ Cardinals (6-3)
Jenifer Langosch/MLB.com
Across Major League Baseball today, teams will remember and honor Jackie Robinson in various ways. All players and uniformed staff will wear No. 42 jerseys. Other tributes vary depending on ballpark and player. MLB.com has a page dedicated to Jackie Robinson, which I recommend you check out.
In on-field news, the Cardinals are again without David Freese (right ring finger irritation) and Lance Berkman (left calf strain), though both are available to pinch hit. Also, Skip Schumaker is on his way to Triple-A Memphis, where he will begin his Minor League rehab stint today.
With a win today, the Cardinals would claim yet another series. They have not lost a series this year. Standing in the way is a guy I saw pitch for years in Pittsburgh — Paul Maholm. Maholm is 4-6 with a 3.72 ERA in 15 career starts against the Cardinals.
