July 14: Cardinals (46-41) @ Reds (48-38)

Two quick notes before the lineups..

  • Lance Berkman was reinstated from the disabled list today, and the Cardinals optioned outfielder Shane Robinson to Triple-A Memphis to open the roster spot. Berkman, however, is not in Saturday’s starting lineup. He is available to pinch hit, and manager Mike Matheny said he anticipates Berkman starting on Sunday.
  • The Cardinals announced that they have signed lefty reliever Brian Fuentes to a Minor League deal. Fuentes agreed that he needed time in the Minors before jumping back into the big leagues, so the club will have him travel to meet the Gulf Coast League team on Sunday. GM John Mozeliak said the organization has an initial seven-day plan for Fuentes and then will reevaluate his readiness from there. Fuentes has a July 31 out-clause built into his contract, so he can ask for his release on that date if he has not yet been called up.

Is it possible to send Matheny and Big Mac down to Memphis or maybe the Gulf?

its good that they have some relief come up but now they look like they need help with the defense 3 errors in the first that is bad baseball take the little boys out and do like they do in little league hit grounders to them until they can’t stand up or until they can catch 300 grounders with out a miss that means the lights might be on all night or even longer.now that is baseball.
