August 4: Brewers (48-57) @ Cardinals (57-49)

Jenifer Langosch/MLB.com

Expect tonight’s first pitch (scheduled for 6:15 p.m. CT) to be delayed a bit due to a pre-game ceremony set to honor the 30th anniversary of the Cardinals’ 1982 World Series Championship. There will be a parade before the on-field ceremony, and it all begins at 6 p.m. CT. Fox Sports Midwest will have it televised for those of you at home.

Remember that Jaime Garcia is making his second Minor League rehab start tonight. The results of that outing will be posted in a cardinals.com story later in the evening. Garcia is expected to throw about 60 pitches, and if all goes well tonight, Garcia may need only one more Minors start before rejoining the Cardinals’ rotation.

One housekeeping note: I’m going to add a new daily feature to these game posts for these final two months of the year. Below the lineups, you’ll now find two links. I like the Wild Card standings. It looks like the Reds all the way for the Division winner!
