Wild Card Night: Odds and Ends

Jenifer Langosch/MLB.com

While I wait for the Turner Field gates to open, here are a few odds and ends to pass along in advance of tonight’s Wild Card game between the Cards and Braves:

  • Major League Baseball announced start times for the first games in the National League Division Series. If the Cardinals defeat the Braves, they will face Washington in the best-of-five NLDS. Game 1 would be at Busch Stadium on Sunday with a start time of 2:07 p.m. CT. Game 2 would be at Busch Stadium on Monday with a start time of 3:37 p.m. CT.
  • MLB has also announced the umpiring crew for tonight’s game — remember, during the postseason, MLB employs a six-man crew. Tonight’s crew will include: Jeff Kellogg (HP), Mike Winters (1B), Gary Cederstrom (2B), Jeff Nelson (3B), Sam Holbrook (LF) and Rob Drake (RF).
  • Friday’s Wild Card pregame press conferences will be streamed live on MLB.com. Manager Mike Matheny is scheduled to speak at 1:15 p.m. CT. At 1 p.m. CT, a Cardinals player (identity currently unknown) will take the podium.
