Two of the Cardinals’ top prospects — outfielder Oscar Taveras and infielder Kolten Wong – have landed on prospect honor lists this week. Taveras has been named to the Topps’ Double-A All-Star Team after ranking in the top 10 of the following statistical categories while playing for Double-A Springfield (Mo.) this season: batting average (.321), slugging percentage (.572), doubles (37), RBIs (94), hits (153), runs (83) and homers (23).
Taveras is one of three outfielders and nine players on the All-Star squad. A full story about Taveras’ inclusion can be found here.
On Monday, Wong was named to the Arizona Fall League’s Top Prospect League after his successful stint in the AFL. The list of 22 prospects was compiled through input from AFL managers and coaches, all of whom were told to consider player performances in the AFL as well as Major League projectability.
The full list of AFL top prospects can be found in this story.
