I hope this isn’t news to you, but in case you have been too engrossed in Stan Musial coverage to notice much else, MLB.com has been unveiling its 2013 top prospect rankings over the past week. These daily rankings have been broken up by position, with MLB.com selecting the 10 best prospects at each spot on the field. The Cardinals have been well-represented on these position lists, a reflection of the organization’s standing as one of the best farm systems in baseball.
For those who have missed some of the daily stories on cardinals.com, here’s a rundown of the Cardinals’ Minor Leaguers who rank, according to MLB.com, in the top 10 at their respective positions:
- Shelby Miller, No. 9 among right-handed pitchers. (Story here)
- Kolten Wong, No. 2 among second basemen. (Story here)
- Matt Adams, No. 2 among first basemen. (Story here)
- Oscar Taveras, No. 1 among outfielders. (Story here)
At 8 p.m. CT on Tuesday, MLB Network will air a one-hour special, during which MLB.com’s list of 2013 top 50 prospects will be unveiled. The show will also be simulcast on MLB.com, which will publish its top 100 prospect list after the MLB Network special. The Cardinals are expected to place several of their Minor League players on that list.
