Day 47: Cardinals @ Mets

Jenifer Langosch/MLB.com

This. Is. It. After a Spring Training that seemed to last from Feb. 10 to eternity, the Cardinals play their final Grapefruit League game this afternoon. Then it’s onto a charter flight for Phoenix, where the club will open the season on Monday.

You can expect most (and maybe, all) of the starting position players to be pulled mid-game on Friday. Manager Mike Matheny said he’d like to get them some work, but not push his regulars too deep into the game. Several players from Minor League camp — as well as those still in big-league camp who are headed to the Minos after today’s game — will cover the final innings.
