Mets 7, Cardinals 2
I’m going to keep this final blog post of spring short so that I can get out of a very cold press box and pack up for the first West Coast trip of the season. The Cardinals will land in Phoenix tonight. I head to Arizona in the morning. Saturday is an off-day for the club, but do look for fresh content from the team’s workout on Sunday.
In the meantime, here are links to MLB.com’s Opening Day Cardinals content. The reading material can help pass some time until 9:10 p.m. CT on Monday:
- Player Spotlight: Matt Holliday
- Season Preview: Adversity to drive club once again
- Opening Day starter story: Adam Wainwright
- NL Central Preview: Reds enter season as team to beat
The Cardinals officially trimmed their roster to 25 players after Friday’s game, though none of the cuts (Adron Chambers, Maikel Cleto, Oscar Taveras, Rob Johnson and Greg Garcia) came as a surprise. I listed the Cardinals’ Opening Day roster in yesterday’s post-game blog entry, so look there if you need any reminder on who is taking a plane to Phoenix tonight.
There will be one notable absence on the flight to Phoenix — Shelby Miller is staying back in Jupiter so that he can get a start in a Minor League game on Saturday. He will rejoin the team in time for Monday’s season opener.
Thanks for making this blog one of your sources for Cardinals information this spring. I hope you found the content beneficial and complementary to the articles on cardinals.com. The blog will remain active throughout the season, so keep it bookmarked.
