August 6: Dodgers (62-49) @ Cardinals (65-46)

Jenifer Langosch/

The Cardinals have won just three of their last nine games and have quite the task tonight as they oppose arguably the league’s best pitcher in Clayton Kershaw (10-6, 1.87 ERA). The Dodgers have also won 15 straight on the road, which is longer than any road streak the Cardinals have had in franchise history.

Joe Kelly will take the mound for St. Louis and carries a string of 14 2/3 scoreless innings into the outing. His 1.49 ERA since June 1 is the lowest among all Major League pitchers with at least 40 innings pitched. Kelly will remain a part of the Cardinals’ regular rotation until further notice.

Check out the notebook later today for more on Carlos Beltran’s decision to bunt last night and for an update on Jaime Garcia’s rehab.
