August 7: Dodgers (62-50) @ Cardinals (66-46)

Jenifer Langosch/MLB.com

After first posting a lineup that had Allen Craig hitting third and playing first base, manager Mike Matheny made a switch to start Matt Adams. He said the change was not prompted by any injury/health concern with Craig, but rather by a desire to get Adams a start. With a left-hander starting for the Dodgers on Thursday, this was seen as the best opportunity to start Adams in this series. Adams delivered a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the Cardinals’ win on Tuesday.

With a win tonight, the Cardinals would move to 1,010-1,010 all-time against the Dodgers. This isn’t really useful information, though I found it interesting nonetheless.
