August 24: Braves (77-51) @ Cardinals (75-53)

With a win last night, the Cardinals have come out of a late July/early August funk to win seven of their last nine games. With the Pirates playing nearly as well, that has gained the Cards only two games in the NL Central. Don’t forget about the race for the NL’s best record, though — a perk that ensures a team of playing the Wild Card winner in the Division Series. Entering Saturday, Atlanta (77-51) held that top record spot, with Pittsburgh and Los Angeles one game behind and St. Louis just two. That certainly sets up for an exciting final month.

Shelby Miller takes the mound tonight seeking the 12th win of his rookie season. He has a 1.88 ERA in 12 starts at Busch Stadium this season.
