September 10: Brewers (62-80) @ Cardinals (83-60)

Jenifer Langosch/

Now past the toughest portion of their schedule, the Cardinals begin the sprint to the end of the season with three games against the Brewers. The Cardinals have dominated Milwaukee this season, going 10-3 in their first 13 meetings. One last series in Milwaukee looms later in the month. In their six home games against the Brewers, the Cardinals have outscored them, 33-22.

Shelby Miller has been a particular nuisance to the Brewers. He enters tonight 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA and 21 strikeouts in three starts (18 1/3 innings). Miller has also thrived at Busch Stadium, going 7-3 with a 1.92 ERA in 13 home starts.

There is little update to provide regarding Allen Craig (sprained left foot), other than that his re-evaluation has been pushed back to Thursday. The Cardinals expect to have a better understanding of how long Craig will be sidelined after that doctor visit. Craig was cleared for a light workout in the weight room today.

If you missed today’s earlier announcement, MLB has released the 2014 schedule. This story has all the highlights and notable matchups for the Cardinals listed out. Also, here’s a nice piece from’s Jesse Sanchez highlighting Carlos Beltran’s heritage and community service efforts. I highly recommend watching the video.

I know he plays for Milwaukee, but you’ve got to love a guy named “SCOOTER’!
We need a shortstop.Ask why we don’t Jen?
