September 12: Brewers (62-82) @ Cardinals (85-60)

Jenifer Langosch/

The Cardinals will be without catcher Yadier Molina and reliever Trevor Rosenthal tonight as they go for a three-game sweep of the Brewers. Molina, along with brother Bengie, remain with their mother as she recovers from a surgical procedure. Jose Molina also left the Tampa Bay Rays to join the family. Rosenthal is at the hospital, too, awaiting the birth of his first child. As of 4 p.m. CT, his wife remained in labor.

General manager John Mozeliak said that the club does anticipate all three returning to the club on Friday.

Also to update: Allen Craig went in for a re-evaluation on his sprained left foot. The doctor was encouraged by Craig’s progress but did recommend that he resume wearing a walking boot for protection. That was not to be taken, Mozeliak said, as a sign of a setback. The Cardinals still do not have a timetable for his return.

Jenifer _ I tried e-mailing you, but for some reason it didn’t go. I had two questions for you. 1. How many dozen baseballs do the Cardinals use in a season ? 2. How do they get those dirty uniforms cleaned and ready for the next game ? Thank You Floyd – Champaign, Il.

Wow,such rivetting questions.Almost as important as a Honey Boo-Boo episode!
