NLCS roster, umpires announced
The Cardinals announced their NLCS roster on Friday morning, though it should come as no surprise that it looks the same as the roster used in the NLDS. With Allen Craig still recovering from a foot injury, the Cardinals had no changes to make.
As a refresher, that roster includes the following 12 pitchers and 13 position players:
PITCHERS: Joe Kelly, Michael Wacha, Adam Wainwright, Lance Lynn, Shelby Miller, Trevor Rosenthal, Kevin Siegrist, Randy Choate, Carlos Martinez, John Axford, Edward Mujica, Seth Maness
POSITION PLAYERS: Yadier Molina, Tony Cruz, Matt Adams, Matt Carpenter, Pete Kozma, Daniel Descalso, Kolten Wong, David Freese, Matt Holliday, Carlos Beltran, Jon Jay, Shane Robinson, Adron Chambers
Also, Major League Baseball announced its series umpiring assignments on Friday. Gerry Davis will be the crew chief in the best-of-seven series between the Cardinals and Dodgers. The other umpires assigned to the NLCS include Ted Barrett, Mark Carlson, Bruce Dreckman, Mike Everitt and Greg Gibson.
First pitch tonight is at 7:37 p.m. CT. There will be a pep rally at the Ballpark Village parking lot from 4:30-6:30. Tonight’s ceremonial first pitches will be thrown out by Bob Gibson, Jason Motte and Adam Wainwright — all of whom threw a pitch that recorded the final out of a Cardinals World Series Championship.
