Expanded instant replay is set to be tested during five AFL games this week — and all of those games will be televised on MLB Network for those wanting to get a glimpse of how these new procedures could affect strategy and game pace in MLB next season.

For a refresher on the proposed instant replay expansion, click here.

MLB will have officials and umpires observing these AFL games. Before expanded replay is implemented in MLB, it has to be approved by clubs, the MLB Players Association and the World Umpires Association.

The following games will be the test cases for replay:

  • Nov. 5: Mesa Solar Sox at Salt River Rafters (8 pm CT)
  • Nov. 6: Salt River Rafters at Scottsdale Scorpions (8 pm CT)
  • Nov. 7: Scottsdale Scorpions at Salt River Rafters (8 pm CT)
  • Nov. 8: Glendale Desert Dogs at Scottsdale Scorpions (8 pm CT)
  • Nov. 9: Peoria Javelinas at Salt River Rafters (8 pm CT)

Outfielders Piscotty and Ramsey participated in the AFL Fall Stars Game on Saturday. Ramsey went 1-for-2 with a walk while batting leadoff and playing left field. Piscotty, who served as the designated hitter, tripled in two at-bats for the AFL East team, which lost, 9-2.

The AFL season ends on Nov. 14, with the Championship Game then to played on Nov. 16 (MLB Network, 2 pm CT). Currently, Salt River trails Mesa by 1.5 games in the East Division.
