Calling all Inbox submissions

Jenifer Langosch/MLB.com

With the offseason now in full swing, it is time to resurrect the Inbox — a Q&A style piece in which you provide the Qs and I give the As. If you have a question you would like to submit for next week’s Inbox, send it along to Jenifer.Langosch@MLB.com. You must include your first name, last initial and hometown for it to be considered.

Three other stipulations:

  1. Please do me the favor of reading the recent content on cardinals.com so that you know what topics/questions have already been discussed. There’s nothing more frustrating than getting questions already answered in stories on the front page of our website.
  2. If you’re going to ask about shortstop, don’t. I have several such submissions already, so it is a topic that will be covered. Think of something different to ask.
  3. If you are going to play GM and propose a trade, be sure to think about your proposed deal from the perspective of the other team’s GM. Most trade propositions I receive are great for the Cardinals but preposterous for the other club. Remember, trades have to benefit both teams. Talking about trading Pete Kozma and Jon Jay for an established shortstop is pure silliness.

OK. With that out of the way, go ahead and send over your Qs.

Whoa, Jen having a bad day?
Here’s a question about Shelby Miller NOT coverd in the article. If they think of him as a ‘top of the rotation ” type pitcher, why wasn’t he used in the World Series? Atferall isn’t that what every team tries to win?

Question:
Now that it seems the Sox are making a push to sign Betran, would the Cards consider Napoli? His splits show he was decent vs. RHP and with the Cards having trouble vs. LHPitching he would be helpful. It would cut into Adams paying time, making him available if they wanted to package him with an arm or two for a SS. Also is Peralta an option? I heard his PED conviction was more to do with diet pills or is that untrue.
Napoli and Beltran would both have daft picks involved but those picks would be so close together that they might be a wash.
