Give a glove, make a difference

Cardinals minor leaguer Vance Albitz is at it again, spending his offseason days collecting baseball gloves, balls and notes to send overseas to members of the military. Albitz started this initiative last winter and ended up collecting 1,965 gloves through donations from individuals, companies and teammates.

(If you are not familiar with the origin of Albitz’s project, here is a link to a feature I wrote about Gloves 4 Troops during Spring Training.)

If you are interested in making a donation to Gloves 4 Troops, visit Albitz’s website (link here) for details on how to participate. According to his site, his glove count is already up to 2,488. ‘Tis the season for giving, so I thought it appropriate to highlight this project again in hopes that others might want to get involved.
