Jay, Cardinals reach one-year agreement

The Cardinals’ outstanding arbitration cases reduced by one on Friday, as the organization and Jon Jay agreed to a one-year deal worth $3.25 million, a source confirmed with MLB.com. The settlement came before the two sides would have publically exchanged desired salary figures on Friday and eliminates the possibility of a February arbitration hearing.

With Jay’s deal now in place, the Cardinals can focus attention on their two remaining unsigned, arbitration-eligible players — Daniel Descalso and Peter Bourjos.
