Taveras among three players sent to Minors camp

Oscar Taveras, whose health never allowed him to make the impression he wanted this spring, was optioned to Minor League camp after Thursday’s game. Right-hander Eric Fornataro and catcher Audry Perez were also optioned, leaving the Cardinals with 46 players in camp.

Taveras logged just six at-bats this spring. He sat out the first week of spring games because of his hesitancy to fully trust his surgically-repaired right ankle. Once he passed all the necessary running tests, Taveras started consecutive games, but had to leave the second one early due to a tight right hamstring. He has not appeared in a game since Saturday.

MLB.com ranked Taveras as the Cardinals’ top prospect and baseball’s third-best prospect heading into 2014.

OT is undertime! Does he need a sports psychologist? What are his problems?
He reminds me of Johnny Cueto who manages to get “hurt” in major pressure situations- like pitching.
