Mark Ellis is in the Cardinals’ lineup for the first time since March 13, an indication that his left knee is no longer giving him issue. The knee inflammation cost Ellis several spring at-bats, leaving him now with a week to get ready for the regular-season opener.

Aledmys Diaz is back in the starting lineup for a second straight day. Manager Mike Matheny has said the Cardinals will send Diaz out to Minor League camp as soon as playing opportunities dry up for him in Grapefruit League play. Apparently that won’t be for at least another day.

This will be Michael Wacha’s second straight start against the Astros in Kissimmee. His first one went quite well (3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K). We’ll see if the Astros’ offense can make any adjustments.

And with the first round of NCAA games now complete, congrats to Larry Weisel for taking the top position on the early leaderboard.
