Lance Lynn gets his chance to become the Majors’ first four-game winner today as he faces the Nationals in the third game of a four-game series. As he did on Monday, Lynn will be throwing to catcher Tony Cruz. It worked last time, as Lynn tossed seven scoreless innings with Cruz behind the plate.

That Monday result, along with a desire to keep Yadier Molina rested, manager Mike Matheny said, led him to go with this battery again. Also, Jon Jay, Matt Adams and Kolten Wong return to the lineup after a day off.

Also, for those who have asked, the Cardinals have not announced who will start for the club Monday against the Mets. Every indication is that someone from Triple-A Memphis will join the team for the spot start. It is Tyler Lyons’ scheduled day to start down there.
