Robinson returns; Butler optioned

The Cardinals have altered the look of their bench by bringing outfielder Shane Robinson back to the Majors and optioning Joey Butler to Triple-A Memphis. Robinson will be in uniform for Wednesday’s game against Arizona.

Randal Grichuk and Robinson swapped places on April 27 when the Cardinals made a series of roster moves to shake up their offense. Robinson was able to get regular playing time in Memphis and he hit .371 with 12 runs scored in 18 games. He was 2-for-20 with the Cardinals at the time of the demotion.

Grichuk was then later sent out to make room for Butler, who never made a start for St. Louis and went hitless in six plate appearances off the bench.
