June 11: Cardinals (34-31) @ Rays (24-42)

wpid-img_20140611_154329221.jpgThe big news this afternoon is related to Adam Wainwright, who returned to St. Louis to undergo an MRI on his right elbow, which has been bothering him for some time. The Cardinals were relieved to learn that the MRI showed no ligament damage. Instead, the issue is being characterized as tendonitis, much like tennis elbow.

Much more on Wainwright’s MRI results and prognosis here.

As for tonight, the Cardinals carry a 27-inning scoreless streak into the game, while the Rays remain scoreless in their last 28. Michael Wacha will be making his 14th start; he has yet to allow more than three runs in any of his outings this season.

And this time — thank you, Trop — it can’t rain on him.
