Alrighty then…we get to see good ole’ Kozma in today’s line up! Peralta can’t play every day, duh. Hehehe. Grichuk switched to batting clean-up.
Jen wrote a nice article about Reynolds. Glad to see somebody giving him a little credit. The guy never says much….just keeps on keepin’ on.
Mo was interview earlier today. Adams is headed down to Florida for a little rehab. Holliday’s not quite ready to do that yet, added Mo.
Also talked about? Top prospect 20 y/o, 6′ 3″ 185 lb RHP Alex Reyes. No real intention to bring him up anytime soon. No need right now with Cishek & Broxton on board. Only a real emergency would make MO even consider it.
That’s all I know. Go Cards and Carlos!

Good to see Heyward having a big game today (2 HRs, 3 RBI so far), since Shelby Miller has a no hitter through 5 against the Diamondbacks. Hope they can still sign Heyward for more years to make that deal worthwhile.

To add to his struggles at the plate, Wong has been a disaster in the field today. Perhaps let Kozma have a second base start to see if he can gather any momentum from today?

Great idea, but doubt Mozeliak allows it.

Yeah, Heyward seems to just get better & better. The entire game’s been a little sloppy this afternoon. More errors than usual. Dunno’ what’s going on. Oh no…Choate’s warming up.. Ugh. And then the Pirates might get themselves a sweep. Not the best day.
Oops? Looks like poor Shelby won’t get his no-hitter after all. Oh, well.

He will also not even get the win. Like that good game against us Shelby is not getting any run support from his team mates.

So Wong not only strikes out in the ninth but dinged Matheny with a foul ball. This is a game he will want to forget soon.

and hope Grichuk injury is not serious as he has been a strong factor in the offense lately.

Bob, three weeks ago you wanted to send him down ( Grichuk). Its why management doesn’t hire any of us:)

Right. I wanna’ forget it too. : (
MM said Grichuk felt tightness in his throwing arm (elbow). So they took him out as a precautionary measure. Docs will check him out tomorrow.
How ’bout them Orioles. 18-2 over the A’s. Wow.
Anyhoo…that’s that. On to the Giants tomorrow nite! We can stay in pretty good shape, as long as we keep winning each series. Sweeps are nice, tho’. : )

Staying healthy is the key from here on in.

Yessir. I’m sure that’s why MM took out Grichuk today. Didn’t want some minor strain to turn into anything worse. MM is being uber-cautious. The team’s health is of utmost import at this point & forward, as you said Dave.

Well, hold on a minute. For all we know, the “tightness” may be just that. Possibly a mild pull of some sort. It could be something pretty minor that only needs a few days of non-use to get better. Grichuk HAS been playing a lot, ya’ know?
Heck, I’ve had things like that pop up after, say….mowing the lawn, etc. A little soreness for a day or two…then it goes away.
They always order an MRI for every little thing. To diagnose a problem sure, but more often than not….to simply rule things out.
We shouldn’t worry ’til they tell us there’s something TO worry about. ; )

Hope this isn’t too long an absence. Pham showed promise but is raw; Bourjus hits like a pitcher.

#STLCards have placed OF Randal Grichuk on the DL with a right elbow strain. OF Tommy Pham has been recalled.

Elbows and shoulders make me nervous.

and runs the bases like little leaguer

I’m still betting that the MRI didn’t show anything. Likely a minor, repetitive-type strain that’ll heal fine after a good rest.
Better that he take off 2 weeks now, than later…right? This will put him back in the line-up around Sept 2nd.
And who knows what the “next man up” will do. : ) Moss could get hot. Pham could come thru. Maybe even Bourjos will surprise us. Have to wait and see…

MM is going with Moss tonight. Maybe he will rise to the challenge.

Yeah, wouldn’t that be sumpin’. It’s possible that Moss could start hitting really good. (He’s definitely due.)
Heyward, and Reynolds (to a degree)….are on a roll. Then if by chance, Pham & Bourjos luck out and get a coupla’ good hits too? We’d be in great shape. That’s the one thing about the Cardinals. Ya’ never, ever know who’ll make a game winning play.

If Wacha is sharp his pitching will make the line up tough, especially if we score early.

Thumbs up on that!
