Wacha has often been the stopper so I hope that can hold and they can get over this slow patch. If the Pirates played half decent against the worst teams in the division, they would be level or ahead. Amazing how the Brewers and Reds have risen to the occasion, but we could face the same in the next couple of weeks as well.

The offense had better step up to support Wacha. Too bad Wong is hobbled as it seems unlikely Grichuk or Holiday will really be in game shape in time for the post-season so they are lighter on the attack than ever. Walden, who had potential, looks like a right off completely unfortunately.

Let’s hope Wacha can come thru. He’s damn good most of the time.
Can’t find anything about Peralta online. So, I guess he’s not in the starting line-up merely to have a day off to rest.
MM says Wong was scratched yesterday due to calf tightness, and will again be scratched tonite, just to give it one more day. No big deal, he added.
Yeah I heard the other day, that Walden was scratched for the rest of the season. KMOX should have any & all current updates on their pre-game show. Can letcha’ know what I hear then.

To give themselves a chance in the stretch and playoffs, Chaote and Bourjos must sit out and should be left off the post-season roster. Lyons adds another lefty, and Belisle is also stronger than Choate. Bourjos can field but not hit, throw or run at MLB level, a definite liability. Pham and Jay are definitely better options, given the Holiday will not be ready and Grichuk uncertain. One of MMs weaknesses is loyalty though so I expect they will make the post-season cut and undermine our chances (as Choate so clearly did last year).

You’re completely right about Choate. He has no business being on the post-season roster!!!!
MM only said 2 days ago, that Holliday & Adams will be back SOON!
And unfortunately, as you pointed out? MM has loyalty “issues”.
The pre-game KMOX interview with MM or Mo or both, should shed some light on current situations to date.

Looks like they are in big trouble now – aside form Garcia all of the starters are showing cracks.

Finally. Getting those 5 runs in the 7th, made the loss a bit easier to take. Couldn’t believe Grichuk smacked that bomb his very first at-bat since his elbow injury. It was actually rather surprising to see him at the plate tonite. Sorta’ unexpected.
Nervous about Martinez tomorrow. He may be up to the task, or maybe not. Who knows. The Cardinal games have been a little nerve-racking lately.

The Met’s now look like they could be the team to beat in the NL with their offense improving to go with their promising pitchers. Dodgers and Pittsburgh also have better pitching-hitting balance. Maybe the youngsters will pull through – big test with Martinez tonight.

You’re right. Lots of things up in the air right now. Pretty difficult to predict how it’ll all turn out by the first week in October.
I wonder what Yadi’s saying to Martinez this morning. : )
