Transactions: The Cardinals have optioned OF Randal Grichuk and LHP Dean Kiekhefer to Triple-A Memphis. The Cardinals have activated 1B/OF Brandon Moss and SS Jhonny Peralta from the DL. Aledmys Diaz has been placed on the 15-day DL with a hairline fracture in his right thumb. Zach Duke has been added to the 40- and 25-man rosters.

Well that was a clunker of a finish – extending Oh doesn’t seem like the way to go as closer even though he used so few pitches in the 8th. Still more problems than answers sometimes and no real change at he trade deadline when most of their Wild Card opponents made big moves. Disappointing.

Time to change the sheets again.

Lyons on the DL with a knee-stress reaction? Never heard of that. Can’t send him back down, so…OK. Pitching’s the main issue, I guess. No easy fix for that, unfortunately. : (
What happened in the 9th will merely reinforce MM’s resolve to get Rosenthal back as a closer.
