Pretty convenient for the Marlins that Diaz is out of action – does the league ever look into things like that? How did Lyons get injured?

Hope Wacha can return to form sometime but if Weaver does well he may return to the bullpen for awhile. Aside from Reyes it was another subpar effort and Bowman was the latest hurler to fall short.

Yep, Marlins are probably happy that Diaz went on the DL. There’s just no way to prove any intent, no matter the situation or which team’s involved.
My guess on Lyons, like Rosenthal, is they wanted him put on the back-burner. Couldn’t send Lyons back down to “regroup”….right? Plus, they didn’t wanna’ bum Rosie out either. So in both cases…being placed on the DL served a purpose.
Jen’s tweet says Adams has been scratched. Sore shoulder? Whatever. It’ll be interesting to see Carpenter at 1B.
At least Carp hit a HR in the first inning tonite. Hopefully, a sign of good things to come?

Also? The Birds need to walk Votto when he’s up, like I suggested 2 days ago. Give him 1B, but nothing else.

Who could put Wong hitting number 2 with his weak hitting? Cost them in some situations today. Greg Garcia is better there. Again too much juggling……

MM’s dealing with Wong’s regular requests I hear, to be put higher in the batting order. Therefore, the days after Wong gets some hits? Apparently, MM pencils him in somewhere between the 1-4 hitters, as a reward.

Just say Votto get a double. Hello?

Just SAW Votto’s hit…sorry.

It’s August 11th and the Cubs have 71 wins, 24 more than us……….wow!
Votto has always killed us. Even if we were to walk everytime he’d still somehow score.

But, by walking Votto…he wouldn’t get the chance to hit a double, triple or HR.
Oops, Mr Whiff, Grichuk was called back today and Adams put on the 15-day DL. Randall just doesn’t have enuf’ patience. He’s seldom (if ever) able to get ahead in the count. Luckily, Marlins & Dodgers both lost yesterday, at least.
No doubt that any chance to catch the Cubs is gone. But yep, the Birds still have an opportunity to grab a WC slot.

If we sweep the Cubs we’ll still be 8 games back. A split should at least keep us in the WC race.

Grichuk will be on the bench tonite at Wrigley. He’s only 1-for 17 in his last AAA at bats. But interestingly, he only had 1 strikeout in those 17 plate appearances.
Carp will start on 1B…with Piscotty in CF, Moss in RF, Holliday in LF, GGarcia at 2B and Gyorko 3B. We can only hope Martinez can out-pitch Lester.

What use is Grichuk on the bench if he can’t even hit AAA pitching? Pinch running perhaps? Too many lineup gaps to expect much this weekend. Hope they can get a win o two to stay close to Miami and ahead of Bucs and Mets.

Honestly? I have no idea how they’ll use Grichuk.
A local sports radio guy Bernie Miklasz really tells it like it is. If you’re so inclined to read his critiques of the Red Birds? Here ya’ go: http://www.101sports.com/
