Garcia needs to go to the pen. Started checking free agent starters for 2017. Lots and lots of crap. If we want one we’ll need to trade for one. Michael Saunders from Toronto can be a free agent unless the Jays resign him. Could be that OF replacement for Holiday. 29yrs old and having a good year, especially at that park.
You know me,what ever I think Mo thinks the opposite. I’m beginning to think he doesn’t like me…(:

Whatever on Garcia. The bullpen would work, I suppose. Thank goodness this is Jaime’s last contract year. Of course there’s the 2017 option, but the Cards really can’t afford to risk it. Let’s face it….it’s time for MO to wave bye-bye and send Jaime on his way.
Also, keep in mind that Holliday would really like to play one more year with the Birds, if they’ll have him. There’s no doubt that his terms/the option for 2017 would be very negotiable. But if the Cards have no interest, considering his “no-trade” clause? I’m pretty certain “Holly” (as MM calls him) would retire.
At that point it wouldn’t be a surprise for Holliday to ask Mo & DeWitt about any openings for batting a coach.
As for the off-season? I doubt Mo will pursue little else than pitching. As it is…we’ve already got too many outfielders.
Mo will likely want to renegotiate Moss’ contract, which is up this year. They should easily be able to come to an agreement early on, since Moss’ bestest-friend Gyorko is signed thru 2019 with a 2020 team option (as is Carpenter, btw).

Hey gang, remember when we were 6 games back in mid July?

Back ahead of the Mets.

21 games left. 11 wins gets us to 86, but I think we’ll need 88. So 13 and 8 is what I think we’ll need to do. Must win Cub series some how.

It still appears to be do-able, yes. Will be a real nail-biter tho’, to see if the Birds can actually get there.
I even think it’s possible that the Cubs’ lead is good enuf’, that they’re not giving 100% right now (kinda’ on purpose). Primarily so they can rest their main guys as much as possible. I guess one can hope…huh?
And how ’bout it. Kelly’s starting for Yadi today. Plus I always like to see Carp bat lead-off and play 3B. He seems most comfortable both places. Peralta Pham & GGarcia not starting today.
In this morning’s interview, MM claims that Weaver’s tried something different in practice the last coupla’ days, which was suggested by the pitching staff. Lo & behold, he was happily surprised at the result. So MM said we may see a additional, new pitch from Weaver today.
MM also said since Minor League play has shut down for the season? Diaz will be using pre-game practices with the reg team to get his timing back. So, I wonder if the situation gets desperate? Would MM insert Aledmys as a “hail Mary”?
Aw shoot! After 1, the Mets lead the Braves 1-zip. : (

Side note? Diaz has technically been activated and is again on the roster. If or how they use him…not sure.

So a split against the Brewers, not really promising; too bad as Weaver did do well and Saturday was a good late rally. Cubs series will be tough with Leake and Garcia starting then quickly to the West coast where its always hard to win. Will see if they remain close to the WC by this time next week.
